The Publication

The Magazine

Seven territories. One editorial perspective. Published when there is something worth publishing.

Every piece must teach, provoke, seduce, introduce, or delight. If it does none of these things, it doesn't run.

The editorial philosophy of Playboy-X is built on a single understanding: the reader is not looking for information. He is looking for a companion. A brilliant, irreverent, sensual, intelligent companion who has read more than him, traveled further, thought harder, and is willing to share all of it without moralising.

Each month produces a thematic issue of 18–20 pieces — approximately 25,000–50,000 words of original writing, plus photography. We publish on Mondays (the long read), Wednesdays (interview, profile, or essay), Fridays (culture), and Sundays (the edit, style, travel).

The Long Read
2,000–8,000 words

The intellectual flagship. Essays, reported features, and investigations that require real commitment from writer and reader — built to last, worth re-reading years later.

The Interview
3,000–10,000 words

The centrepiece of each issue. One subject, one interviewer, extended access, pure Q&A. Length determined by quality, not word count.

The Essay
800–2,000 words

A man with a genuine opinion and the writing to express it. Shorter than the long read, sharper than the column. The heartbeat of the magazine.

The Profile
1,500–4,000 words

A portrait of a person worth knowing. Not celebrity Q&A — journalism that reveals character. Who they are, how they became it, what they sacrificed.

The Pictorial
Photo essay

Photography presented with full creative and editorial seriousness. Shot by real photographers with real concepts. Every pictorial includes an interview or profile of the subject.

The Review
400–800 words

Short, opinionated, specific. Films, books, albums, restaurants, hotels. No stars — we describe and argue, and let the reader decide.

Essays, arguments, and intellectual provocations on politics, philosophy, technology, society, economics, and the nature of being human. Not academic papers — intelligent, readable, argued writing that assumes the reader is capable of handling a genuine idea.

Frequency  2 long-form pieces per month, plus shorter responses and arguments

Culture is not a supplement to life — it is how we make sense of it. Playboy-X takes culture seriously as both criticism and experience. We review, profile, and argue about the work that is defining the era, and the work that should be defining it but isn't.

Frequency  4–6 pieces per month across the category

The pillar that no other serious publication will touch — which is exactly why we must. Desire is a fundamental human experience. Photography of serious craft. Essays on desire, the erotic imagination, and the complicated truth of wanting. Adult, frank, literary. Never crude.

Frequency  1 major pictorial per month, 2–3 supporting essays or profiles

Men think about power constantly and talk about it dishonestly. Playboy-X approaches power — financial, social, political, personal — with the same unflinching intelligence we bring to everything else. We tell the truth about ambition: that it is complicated, often ugly, and essential.

Frequency  2–3 pieces per month

Style is not fashion. Fashion is what brands sell. Style is what a man develops over decades of paying attention. Playboy-X covers style as an expression of character, not compliance with trends. We tell the reader what is actually worth wearing, buying, and investing in — and why.

Frequency  2–3 pieces per month, plus seasonal features

Not travel content — travel experience. Playboy-X publishes the kind of travel writing that makes you book a flight, or that makes you understand a city you've never visited as though you've lived there. Based in Dubai. Global in perspective. Every destination treated as a place, not a product.

Frequency  1 major travel feature per month, plus shorter recommendations
